Virtual Classroom

This is an on-demand self guided math classroom. Here, you can browse our list of lessons, organized by class level and math topic and view handwritten solved math problems, as well as video tutorials explaining how to solve problems. The classroom is divided into two main sections: "Class Notes" and "Class Notes and Videos". The Basic membership gives you access to the "Class Notes" and the Premium membership gives you access to "Class Notes and Videos". Questions posted in the "Class Notes" section will receive written answers. Questions posted in the "Class Notes and Videos" section will receive both written answers and video recordings, explaining the solution. This style of classroom is designed to be on-demand, so that students do not have to book one hour or two hour long tutoring sessions if they need some quick help.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. A little bit about me. My name is Ahmed Kothawala. I'm a chemical engineer who graduated in 2012 from the University of Houston. In college, I tutored professionally at the Learning Support Services (LSS), which is where I received my formal training in how to be an effective tutor. I worked at the LSS for four out of my five years and U of H, teaching not only all levels of college and university calculus, but also, Accounting, Physics, Chemistry and English writing. My passion became to teach. I loved it. I loved the feeling of sitting down with a tentative student at the start of the semester, overwhelmed at how much they didn't understand about the class they were taking, and seeing them grow through the semester to a confident, capable student, achieving a high grade. I decided that this would be my path in life. To teach. To embark on that journey, I went on to Rice University for a PhD. I wanted to become a professor and teach. To my dismay, I found that the life of a university professor is less teaching and more writing grant proposals to receive funding for research. Although research is a noble profession, and an important one, it wasn't my calling, and I left Rice, not getting my PhD, and entered the private sector as a consultant. My day job involves helping engineers understand how to use advanced software to design and run chemical plants. I get to teach and I get to continue seeing the AHA! moment in the eyes of students who learn a new skill. Throughout the years, I have continued tutoring students Math whenever I could help. From younger relatives, to neighbors, to people referred by past students, I have not stopped tutoring. I still enjoy it with a passion and I decided to start this website to continue on in my journey, searching for that AHA! moment with new students. I hope you'll find the content here useful in your studies. I hope you'll use the resource as I have intended it, as a guide to deepen your understanding of the beauty (yes, beauty!) of math.
